Amelia Swanson, PhD
Amelia Swanson, PhD, is the owner and clinical psychologist at Health Psychology Associates of Illinois, PLLC. She also is a health systems clinician at Northwestern Univeristy, Department of Psychiatry. She specializes in reproductive mental health, peripartum mental health, adjustment to parenthood, coping with chronic and life-limiting illness, ADHD, anxiety and depression. Dr. Swanson also conducts research on the psychological aspects of medical issues with a particular focus on how patients are resilient in the face of medical challenges and find meaning and purpose in their life while struggling with infertility. Dr. Swanson completed her PhD in Counseling Psychology in 2015 at the University of Miami. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Yale University School of Medicine in the behavioral medicine track. After completing her doctorate, Dr. Swanson completed postdoctoral training in Integrated Primary Care across the lifespan at Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance in Cambridge, MA. In 2016, Dr. Swanson joined the faculty at University of Massachusetts Medical School/UMASS Memorial Medical Center as an attending Health Psychologist on the Consultation/Liaison service. Dr. Swanson joined the faculty of Northwestern in 2018 where she provides consultation as well as individual / couple’s psychotherapy related to infertility and other reproductive concerns.
